Hello.
My name is David Horne. I am native to coastal NC and grew up playing every sport I could get my feet or hands on. By my mid teens I had grown a passionate love for golf- not just playing the game but the history, people, techniques, lifestyle, and values associated with it.
I was fortunate to play collegiate golf at Greensboro College with a great group of guys and an incredible coach. We won a NCAA national championship and never finished outside the top four. I played various mini-tours after college including PGA Tour Q School. In addition to playing, I was a teaching professional in Greensboro NC, with Precision Golf school. I left the golf business in 2003 and have assumed titles of husband and entrepreneur. After a six year sabbatical from competitive golf, I regained my amateur status in the summer of 2008.
For a while I had thought about an outlet to share my thoughts and experiences with others because golf, unlike most sports, is enjoyed for most of our lives. It can take us to some of the most beautiful places in the world and introduce us to some of the most fascinating people. Golf, amazingly and seamlessly bridges the gaps between generations, nations, colors, creeds, and genders. It is a game that reminds us we are more alike than we are different.
The skills and life lessons of golf can be learned at any age by anyone. Whether you are curious, a beginner, an avid golfer, a duffer or scratch, or even a professional, I want to say welcome.
I hope you will join me here on the fringe.
